Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder…

When we all began this incredible journey, I for one did not have a lot of experience in finding a great piece.. and did not really know what to look for other than a really great deal.

While finding a great deal on a piece of furniture is exhilarating and can give you a rush especially if the price is right, finding that unique, one of a kind piece is elevatingly breathtaking… for reals.. it could be related to the exuberate feeling of a child at Christmas.. and the anticipation of making the piece look like what you are picturing it in your mind is almost unbearably concealed.

So what makes a piece so special?  What are you looking for when you are searching for that piece of furniture that will make others turn their heads?… It’s all about the lines baby.. the curves, the style, the potential highlights. Even with something as simple as a picture frame, the more detail there is the greater the creative possibilities can be…

So now I will list a few examples of some our work that others so carelessly let go 😉

Take for example in this picture.. the picture frame before was really cute.. the paint was chipping off but it was still cute.. but look at the after!! .. It’s a very elegant makeover…

This end table is a perfect example of what would catch my eye, this curvy little lady is full of personality, she has fun curves, and beautiful details, and is accessorized adequately.  If you find a piece that you would like to be painted, look for the details.. if a piece has any kind of carvings or grooves and you are wanting to glaze it, it will stand out beautifully.. Make her shine with what she was born with…

Keep in mind the color and style you are looking for, ask around, keep your eyes open, someone is always looking to get rid of something. And the more you look the more you will start to see the difference in what is a great piece and what is a phenomenal piece.

And even if you don’t have the knowledge or time, or the ambition to refinish a piece yourself, if you find a great piece and would like it refinished you can find crafters who are amazingly talented that would be more than happy to help you out, and I will add at a very reasonable price.
