Front and back pieces(width): about 10″
Sleeves from seam to end of ribbing(each): 4 1/2″ long
Front and back (height, w/o bottom ribbing): 8 1/2″
Cuff to cuff (/w ribbing, across chest): 18″

Materials:
3 oz. worsted weight yarn
REGULAR Crochet hook size(s) N,I,G
Ribbon, any width

FOR PREMIES
Use soft worsted weight yarn (caron simply soft), or “Baby Teri” by RED HEART
Use hook sizes: N,H,F respectively

***NOTE***: THESE AFGHAN STITCHES ARE WORKED ON A REGULAR “N” HOOK. PUT A RUBBER BAND ON THE END OF THE HOOK IF STITCHES ARE FALLING OFF THE BACK!

BODY (make 2)

1: With N hook, Ch 28, Insert hook in bottom loop of chain. on the underside and pull up a loop, pull up a loop in each ch bottom across. At end, yo, pull through first loop on hook, *pull through 2 loops. Rep * across. 1 row of BASIC AFGHAN STITCH (BAS) DO NOT TURN

2-16: Continue in BAS without turning. (RS)

For Shoulders: NOTE-Leave tail on EACH shoulder.

17 & 18: Work BAS for 9 stitches. Fasten off. Leave long tail (10 in) ENDING BAS

17 & 18 (opposite side, Right side facing): Sk 10 stitches, attatch yarn and work the 9 st that are left for 2 rows. Leave tail as before. ENDING BAS

Making up– Right sides together, wrong sides facing, use double strand leftovers from shoulder facing to sew BACK LOOPs of shoulder seams ONLY.

Sleeves: Rep 2 times- N HOOK

1-7: Starting 10 stitches down from should seam, pull up a loop in next 10 ends of rows (both loops), 1 in seam of shoulder, 10 on other side of body. Work even in BAS for 7 rows. ENDING BAS. Leave 18″ Tail at the end of each sleeve.

Sewing up sleeves: Starting at end of sleeve, sew up sleeve and body on one side. Rep for other side

RIBBING

With I hook, on sleeve, Join w/sl st, ch 3, dc in each st across, Join to ch 3. (about 20 dc)

Change to “G”, ch 3 (counts as first backpost (BP) dc), *Front Post (FP) around next dc, backpost around next. Rep around. Join, fasten off, weave in ends. Rep for other sleeve.

Working around neck, with I hook, attatch yarn with sc. ***sc around in each stitch loop, sk 1 st at each corner, JOIN. Change to “G” hook. Work 2 rows ribbing as before (Ch 3, *frontpost, backpost around). fasten off. weave in ends. (I had about 42 stitches around neck at end.

***To make smaller neck opening, work sc dec on first round 2 times on back and 2 times on front, evenly spaced)

Working around bottom, in both loops, With “I”, ch 3, DC in each st around, working a DC decrease at the 2 seams. Join. NOW work with “G” hook, continue ribbing as before for 1 row. Fasten off.
